Yamaha are in a good position because they own Steinberg who develop the hardware and the drivers. Which is PITA because those need to be updated frequently and so the company depends on another company and there have been notorious cases about Novation and other companies providing this functionality which then stops working with newer OS-es, etc. I've been asking specifically about "USB audio out" regarding my ASM Hydrasynth and since the company is usually responsive, I got an answer how providing USB audio is not trivial because it requires third party hardware and corresponding drivers. So in the next generation of pianos, asking which pianos have USB audio will be akin to asking which pianos have black and white keys. As always, it shows up on the high-priced spread first, and then trickles down to nearly all models.
